4.2 Creating and Editing Objects (in the back-end)

This section explains how to create and manage the main objects in MyContractManager. Objects include Projects, Tasks, Requirements, KPIs, Risks, and Meetings. Each object is a structured element used to track progress, assign responsibilities, and manage workflows.

4.2.1 What Are Objects?

Objects are the building blocks of your workspace. Each object represents a unit of work or information and can include:

  • A name or title
  • An assigned owner (or multiple roles)
  • Relevant dates (e.g., start date, due date)
  • Links to contracts, departments, or other objects
  • Optional fields such as validation settings or review frequency

Objects can be connected to each other to reflect dependencies or workflow steps.

4.2.2 How to Create Objects?

Objects can be created in multiple ways, depending on the module:

  • From the left menu: Click on a module (e.g., Projects, Requirements) and select the plus icon (+) to create a new object.
  • From dashboards or panels: Many object cards on the dashboard include a three-dot menu (⋮) where you can create or link items directly.
  • From inside other objects: For example, while editing a project, you can add related tasks or meetings from within the project view.

Depending on your user role (Admin, Manager, or User), you may see different creation options.

4.2.3 How to Edit Objects?

Most objects can be edited either by opening the object page or using a quick-edit modal directly from the dashboard.

To edit an object from the dashboard:

  1. Locate the object tile or card (e.g., in Requirement Status or Project Overview).
  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮).
  3. Select Edit.
  4. A modal will open with editable fields for that object.

The available fields depend on the object type, but typically include:

  • Name or Title
  • Owner or Assigned User
  • Dates (Start Date, Due Date, Review Frequency)
  • Related Contract or Department
  • Additional metadata specific to the module (e.g., KPI type, Task priority)

Quick editing allows users to update objects without navigating away from their dashboard, improving speed and usability.

4.2.4 How to delete and restore?

Explanation. Deleting is a soft delete (hide). You can bring items back from the back-end (left menu). In most workspaces only Admins can access the back-end, and only Admins can permanently delete.

1) Delete (soft)

  • Open the item (Project/Task/Requirement/etc.).
  • Click (top-right) → Delete.
  • Result: the item is hidden and appears struck through when Show deleted/hidden is enabled in the back-end list.

2) Restore (undelete)

  • Go to the module’s list page in the back-end and enable Show deleted/hidden (top-right toggle).
  • Find the greyed/struck-through item.
  • Click ⋮ → Restore (or open the item and click the Restore button if shown).
→ The item is visible again; links/owners return if they still exist.

3) Permanently delete (hard delete)

In Show deleted/hidden view, choose ⋮ → Delete permanently (Admins only) and confirm.
